The listener's always implicated in those circuits. "Found footage" assumes that the listener's a researcher. DDS offers something new, it's voyeur footage. In the terms of the Neuralverse, the audience is always a character and they're always in their own sort of peril.
Sarah follows a mysterious note leading her to a hidden archive. She encounters Nikki and Fion, presenting themselves as helpers offering "protection" through access to a spellbook. The book itself becomes a trap. Reading the pages induces altered states where obedience feels like enlightenment and service like liberation. Fion and Nikki, themselves corrupted servants of the conspiracy, use the book to systematically dismantle Sarah's resistance.
Only an intervention can save Sarah. On the Chthonic, though, every deus ex machina might be another way right into the gears.
